Santa Rosa Symphony Presto Mambo! Fun for all ages!

Sun, April 30, 2017, 3:00 pm

Spend a family afternoon with the Symphony for Presto Mambo! featuring Platypus Theatre. In this final Peggy Anne Covington Family Series concert, Max – an energetic but impulsive young boy – makes his way onto the stage to “help” the orchestra. Soon Max is on a whirlwind adventure that takes him from the concert hall to the vibrant lands of Latin America where – with the help of his new friend, Mambo the dog, the orchestra and the audience – Max learns the magic of Latin rhythms and how to “dance” with the music.
Conducted by Richard Loheyde, this fun-filled family program includes Pedro Elías Gutiérrez’s Alam Llanera Pajarillo, John Phillip Sousa’s Liberty Bell March, Silvestre Revueltas’ Duelo from Hommaje a Fereico Garcia Lorca, La Bruja (Traditional), Ennio Morricone’s “Gabriel’s Oboe” from The Mission, Manuel De Falla’s Spanish Dance No. 1 from La Vida Breve and Bernstein’s “Mambo” from West Side Story and more.
Arrive early to explore the Instrument Petting Zoo hosted by the Santa Rosa Symphony Education Department, available beginning at 2 pm.
Tickets are $17/adult, $12/child (12 and under). All patrons, no matter what age, must have a ticket. Seats are reserved.
