Vineyards to Villages (V2V) Wine & Food Safari

Fri, November 10, 2017, 9:30 am - 8:00 pm

We are deeply saddened at the losses sustained by so many of those we love due to the wildfires. Founder of Vineyards to Villages, David Stare, lost his home, and Paradise Ridge, a V2V partner, lost their winery. The road to normalcy will be long for many, but the spirit of Sonoma County is strong, and the Safari will go on! None of the 23 wineries still on the Safari have been affected by the fires and still offer the same wonderful experiences in beautiful settings.
As an organization that has responded to global communities in need for almost 40 years, we recognize that our local community needs us now. We have decided to contribute half of the funds raised from the V2V Wine & Food Safari to a local organization called the Active 20-30 Club, which will be partially matching these funds. The Active 20-30 Club will partner with us to fund long-term disaster relief efforts for children in Sonoma County that have been most devastated by the fires. The other half of the funds will continue to fund clean water projects at schools in East Africa.
The signs posted anonymously around Sonoma County continue to ring true – “The love in the air is thicker than the smoke.

On November 10-12, more than 20 Sonoma County wineries along with restaurants and hotels, will take part in the Third Annual Vineyards to Villages Wine & Food Safari, a weekend-long wine and food extravaganza supporting clean water initiatives in East African schools and villages. The annual event is orchestrated by Vineyards to Villages (V2V), a partnership between Sonoma County wine industry leaders and nonprofit Global Partners for Development.

V2V launched the Wine & Food Safari to offer wine lovers the opportunity to explore dozens of Sonoma County wineries, while helping to turn “wine into water” through bringing clean water to East African schools. Only in its third year, the event has raised over $150,000 – bringing clean water to more than 25,000 children and their families.

Guests who go on the Safari receive complimentary tastings at participating wineries across Sonoma County. In addition, Safari ticket holders will receive discounts for local restaurants, hotels and tour companies, a keepsake wine glass, and one entry into the V2V raffle. Tickets for the weekend tasting event are $50 each, with 100% of proceeds from ticket sales and a portion of all wine bottle sales going to V2V programs.

V2V has added additional events throughout the weekend (with limited ticket availability): a Winemaker Dinner at Christopher Creek Winery (Nov. 9 at 6:30pm); a Winemaker Lunch at Fritz Underground Winery (Nov. 12 at 12:30pm); and Chocolate Pairings at Pedroncelli Winery (Nov. 11 at 2pm). These tickets are sold separately through the event’s official page to cover winery costs.
