Lunchtime Gallery Tour with Richard Shaw at Art Museum of Sonoma County

Fri, February 23, 2018, 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm

Give yourself an art break in your busy day! Richard Shaw, artist and ceramicist, will give you a personal 30-minute tour of his artwork, now showing at the Art Museum,

Richard Shaw is one of the most respected and collected artists in contemporary American ceramics. Shaw attended the San Francisco Art Institute during the fertile period of the 1960s, when the rigid hierarchy of artistic practice and imagery was breaking down in favor of a more open-ended approach. It was then that he turned increasingly to clay as his medium, after having largely been a painter. He went on to study at the University of California at Davis, when that school’s art department was widely regarded as one of the most innovative in the country. There, he worked with Robert Arneson, Manuel Neri and William T. Wiley.
