The 11th annual Lake Sonoma Steelhead Festival — one of the most popular events in Sonoma County — will be held, rain or shine, on the grounds of the Milt Brandt Visitor Center at Lake Sonoma. Upwards of 50 booths will offer arts and crafts projects, faceprinting, educational games and a wide variety of free things for kids — and kids at heart. Food and drink options include food trucks, Bear Republic beer, Dry Creek Valley wines and Revive kombucha. Live music from The Blue Rock band will keep everyone dancing, and bubble show by Bubblesmith will captivate youngsters. Sonoma County Bird Rescue will bring live birds of prey. The Sonoma County Bookmobile will be on site. There are hatchery tours, stream tours and young anglers can sign up to fish for trout in the hatchery runs (ages 5-15). There will be archery, burro rides, and treasure hunt. Best thing is it’s all free (except for food and beverages). Sonoma County Airport Express will provide shuttles from the overflow parking lots. Sponsors include Bear Republic Brewing, Sonoma County Airport Express, the Winegrowers of Dry Creek Valley, American AgCredit, Sonoma County Winegrape Commission, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, The Belli Corp., Brandt Insurance, Exchange Bank, Lake Sonoma Marina, Poppy Bank, Russian River Watershed Association and Vineyard Industry Products. Hosted by the Friends of Lake Sonoma, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sonoma Water and the California Department of Fish & Wildlife.
