Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific melds themes of romance, duty and prejudice to create a classic story that still rings true today. Set on a tropical island in the South Pacific during WWII, this heartbreaking, thought-provoking musical follows two intercultural love stories: Nellie, a spunky nurse from Arkansas who finds herself in love with Emile, a French plantation owner, and U.S. Lieutenant Cable who falls for a beautiful island native named Liat. Both Americans find themselves struggling to reconcile their own cultural prejudices with their romantic feelings, all the while under the dark cloud of a war that is coming ever closer to their island paradise. Features unforgettable songs such as Some Enchanted Evening, Gonna Wash That Man, Bali Hai and many more.
