The Time of Your Life by William Saroyan
Directed by Arte Whyte
Set in Nick’s Pacific Street Saloon, Restaurant and Entertainment Palace, the action centers on Joe, a moneyed but good-hearted young loafer who encourages the bar’s patrons in their eccentricities. His admirer and errand boy, Tom, and Kitty Duval, a young streetwalker who longs for a better life, could be drawn from the bar’s real-life customers, as the bar itself is probably based on Saroyan’s favorite San Francisco saloon. The heartfelt creation of his characters made this Saroyan’s most beloved work, and was the first play to win both the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award.
Generously sponsored by Tim McDonald and Bob Scott.
