Eki Shola fuses electronica, jazzsoul and classical music.
“Music is my language of communication, love and inspiration. Playing piano is an indescribable experience where time slows, dimensions shift and I find myself simultaneously creating in the moment while reliving past memories and dreaming about future aspirations. I choose to share my music and writing with you because I believe connectedness equates to fulfillment for all. If my story or my music helps one individual to feel more connected to themselves and others, then I have succeeded.” ~Eki Shola
Eki Shola’s music draws from diverse influences including Bonobo, Mary Lou Williams, Rachmaninoff, Robert Glasper, Go Go Penguins, Aphex Twin, Taylor McFerrin and Zero 7. Final Beginning has been reviewed and aired on various radio stations across the country and internationally. Within months of its release, the album was listed on the Muzooka College Charts; placed within the top 100 at KZSU’s main chart; and ranked #9 on the top 50 charts at WCBN 88.3 FM. The album reflects a journey triggered by grief and spurned by motivation for healing and spiritual growth. This musical venture concludes with the audible realization that life is about inner reflections and improvisational healing.
