Texas born but now Nashville based, Gary Nicholson is a number one hit songwriter (Texas Heritage Songwriters’ Hall of Fame), a recording artist, world traveling performer, and session guitarist. There are over six hundred recordings of Gary’s songs in genres including country, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and pop. Artists as varied as Delbert McClinton, Robert Plant, Buddy Guy, Willie Nelson, Taj Mahal, George Strait, Garth Brooks, John Prine, Neil Diamond, John Mayall, BB King, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Plant, Fleetwood Mac and Etta James have recorded Gary’s songs.

Gary and Ringo Starr co-wrote the title song of Ringo’s new album, “Give More Love.” Gary co-wrote with Tom Hambridge the title song to Buddy Guy’s recent release “The Blues is Alive and Well.” Gary co-wrote with Taj Mahal and Keb Mo “Don’t Leave Me Here” for their project “Tajmo” which won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues and was nominated for Blues Foundation’s “Best Music Award” for Best Album of the Year. That song was nominated for “Best Song of the Year” for 2018 Blues Music Awards. Gary has a song on Willie Nelson’s current record, “He Won’t Ever Be Gone” a tribute to Merle Haggard as well as new cuts on Michael McDonald’s and George Thorogood’s new albums.
In addition to Gary’s two Grammy winning records with Delbert McClinton, he produced records for
The Judds, Wynonna, Pam Tillis, Billy Joe Shaver, T Graham Brown, Chris Knight, Taylor Hicks, Seth Walker and others.
