Where Do We Go From Here – Chaos or Community?
Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Birthday Celebration
Free Virtual Event online via Zoom / YouTube / Facebook
Sunday, January 17, 2021, 7-9 pm
Due to the COVID pandemic the 2021 Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration will be online – just as many events are – via Zoom, YouTube, and Facebook.

The theme for the 2021 Celebration – appropriate in this time of transition – is taken from the title of a book by Dr. King. The program will feature Donzaleigh Abernathy, daughter of Civil Rights leader Ralph David Abernathy, making the connection of the 60s Civil Rights Movement and the Black Lives Matter Movement. Other presentations will also focus on this theme.
Pomo youth community activist and educator, Rose Hammock, will begin the program with an opening ceremony. There will be music, theatre and spoken word performances by Benjamin Mertz, Tru Lyric, Sky-i, Jacqueline Lawrence, Tina Rogers, Alejandro Guerrero, Prayer Chapel Singers, Piercey Bastoni. Youth presentations and students’ art will be featured. Rev. Lee Turner will close the program with a benediction.
Alegria De La Cruz, Natalie Rogers, Faith Ross, Dela Shay, Mohammed Jabbari, Eddie Alvarez and other community leaders will be participating.
Presented by the Martin Luther King Birthday Celebration Committee
