Sonoma Arts Live presents "Enchanted April"

Enchanted April is based on Elizabeth Von Arnim’s beloved novel of the 1920s. Against the backdrop of a country still reeling from World War I, the play offers to its characters – and viewers – a balm of sunshine and renewal.

Wistful Lottie Wilton sees an advertisement in the paper to rent a castle in Italy for the month of April. It is described as an idyllic spot “for those who appreciate wisteria and sunshine,” and she jumps at the chance to escape her downtrodden existence. Feeling lost in the shadows of marriage in the post-war rush of the 1920s, she gathers three very different London housewives to pool their savings for a ladies-only getaway. Together, under the backdrop of the Mediterranean sun, the four women clash, bond, and finally bloom – until surprise guests arrive and threaten to spoil everything.

Sonoma Arts Live is pleased to welcome Larry Williams back to direct.

“I’m delighted to be back at SAL, directing Enchanted April. It’s a wonderful comedy about four dissimilar women that leave their rainy, dreary, tired lives for a holiday that will change their lives forever. We have such a talented cast and a delightful story…a great way to start to the new year.”

Thurs – Sat at 7:30pm Sunday matinee at 2:00pm
