The Musers are Sonoma County’s newest folk trio, made up of Anita Bear Sandwina on banjolin, fiddle, mandolin and guitar, Megan McLaughlin on guitar and mandolin, and Tom Kuhn on upright bass. Anita and Megan met on the microphone backing up Keith Greeninger at a shared show with Spark and Whisper. They discovered their sister -like blend which permeates The Musers soaring harmonies. Both Anita and Megan are award winning songwriters, taking West Coast Songwriter competitions whenever they show up.
Mix three singer-songwriters, several stringed instruments, and a variety of percussive techniques, and you get Five Letter Word. Made up of Leigh Jones (vocals, guitar, percussion), Clara Baker (vocals, fiddle, guitar) and Audra Nemir (vocals, bass), this Portland, OR-based trio of powerful women draws on influences such as The Wailin’ Jennys, Dixie Chicks, and The Wood Brothers, blending their signature harmonies into a sound that is “uniquely infectious” and a show that is “delightful, with a few unexpected twists.” Their new album, Siren, debuted at #17 on the National Folk DJ Chart for January 2019.
