Enjoy a personal tour of the exhibition, 3 Friends, by the artists themselves, Robert Hudson, Jack Stuppin, and Richard Shaw. They will each discuss some of their works, their challenges, and what they were hoping to achieve with each piece. Art lovers, save the date!
Robert Hudson has been a primary force in the West Coast assemblage movement, and is well known for his polychrome steel sculpture. He has also produced non-objective paintings, ceramics, and large steel and bronze sculptures. He received his BFA and MFA from San Francisco Art Institute.
Richard Shaw is one of the most respected and collected artists in contemporary American ceramics. Shaw attended the San Francisco Art Institute during the fertile period of the 1960s; it was then that he turned increasingly to clay as his medium, after having largely been a painter. He went on to study at the University of California at Davis.
Jack Stuppin is a graduate of Columbia College, NY and studied painting at the San Francisco Art Institute. He was for many years a member of The Sonoma Four, a group well-known for their en plein air landscape painting.
