Henry Nagle and Jessi Phillips met at a backyard show in Oakland in 2010 and shortly after, began performing as Eight Belles, releasing a debut album the East Bay Express called “richly detailed” with “the grim tint of old folk tales.” Almost nine years after their self-titled sophomore record, the Americana duo returns with a new collection of songs, Ghost Lights. The compilation ranges from dark acoustic ballads to punchy power-pop infused alt-country, and features guest performances by Schlee, Jacob Aranda, Kevin Carducci, Joel Robinow, and other Bay Area luminaries. Recorded mostly in Nagle’s garage in Sonoma County, the album’s sonic landscape showcases Nagle’s transportive guitar playing and Phillips’ plaintive soprano, and lyrics that explore struggles and discoveries of nearly a decade—new loves, heartbreak, addiction, commitment, and loss. https://eightbelles.bandcamp.com/album/eight-belles
