Cattle on the coast
Fri, March 31, 2023, 6:00 pm - 8:15 pm

Space is limited to 40 people. Please register here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/regenerative-agriculture-walk-and-talk-with-doniga-markegard-registration-513486119807

Come walk with TWC staff and Doniga Markegard through two of our pastures to learn about regenerative grazing techniques implemented on the property. We will talk about carbon sequestration, increasing biodiversity, fuels reduction, managing invasive species, and more.

The Markegard Family Ranch is ACR (Audubon Conservation Ranching)-certified, which means, “by mimicking historic wild herds of grazing mammals, regenerative grazing invigorates diverse plant communities and supports nutrient cycles that rebuild soil and conserve water. It even has the potential to remove carbon from the atmosphere and add enormous amounts of carbon to soil organic matter. We measure the effectiveness of these practices by monitoring bird diversity and abundance, vegetation change, and soil health.”

Doniga is dedicated to finding ways to regenerate lands and community through ranching practices that build soil, sequester carbon, capture and purify water and enhance habitat.

Participants will meet TWC staff at our Gateway to the Headlands parking lot on Highway 1, 1.5 miles north of the town of Jenner. Please plan to come 15 minutes early to sign waivers, use the facilities, and get acquainted before we set out on our walk.
