Laila Ewing

Laila is a Sebastopol-based solo singer-songwriter with a haunting, soulful, and delicate voice. Her original tunes on acoustic guitar are folky, warm and mysterious, almost nostalgia-evoking, peppered with a unique blend of dissonance and play. Her dynamic vocals will lift and stir pieces of your soul, leaving you catching your breath while dusting the shelves off in your heart. Some of Laila’s deepest influences range from Joni Mitchell, CSNY, and Van Morrison, to Townes Van Zandt and Lucinda Williams, to Radiohead, Adrianne Lenker, Hiss Golden Messenger, Susan Tedeschi, Madison Cunningham, Laura Marling and Nai Palm. Laila is just beginning to get her feet wet as a performing musician, currently working to polish off material for a debut album to come. Her rather quiet and limited online presence makes every live show a rare treat not to be missed.

She is often accused of being a tear-jerker when sharing her music, so it might not be a bad idea to bring a handkerchief.

Zeeminar Alyumshka (ZEE-min-are Ali-YUM-shkuh) is the nom de plume of illustrator, poet, and award-winning filmmaker Rob Summerlin. As a boy, he would wake up to his French mom blasting France Gall’s ‘Ella Est La’, and with his American dad he would listen to Green Day’s Dookie on hockey road trips. He’d watch Amélie with his mom (until the orgasm scene, which prompted him to be pulled out of the theater by the arm) and Cool Hand Luke with his dad. The mix of influences can be felt in his debut album ‘My name is Zeeminar Alyumshka and I want to kiss your hands and feet with my sweet music until every cell in your body shimmers’. An album filled with characters in a world as vibrant as his favorite films, specifically Tim Burton’s Big Fish.

Faethora is composed of 1/4ths slap-you-in-the-face pop music with an overflowing half cup of theatre arts and a sprinkle of whatever else she fancies to sing and write at any given moment. Based in Sonoma County, she uses her powerhouse vocals and dramatic flare simultaneously to produce not just a sound, but a stage experience- while making sure to throw in dashes of soft-and-sweet here and there. She has a classical vocal and musical theatre background, which she uses as much inspiration for her music. She creates catchy melodies with lyrics pertaining to personal struggles and familiar stories alike. Faethora often uses various media she enjoys as inspiration and ties it to her own personal feelings and experiences to bridge the gap between art and reality, as well as the artificial space between the strange and the mundane. She has written about mental illness, social interactions, the pains and gains of being on the autism spectrum, the world around her, death, and perfectionism, as well as the occasional “just for fun” scenario.
