Sat, April 29, 2023, 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

You are invited to ‘Water Is Her Right!’, a concert fundraiser featuring The Fula Brothers to empower women and increase access to clean water in Sub-Saharan Africa!
The Fula Brothers showcase a combination of high-spirited performers from West Africa and the USA each with a deep history of innovation and collaboration. Together they weave a West African hunters harp, finger-style guitar, percussion, vocals, and a bounty of improvisation with an ecstatic groove that the heart – and the feet – cannot resist.
The evening will also include a silent auction featuring donated prizes from Griffo Distillery, Sacramento Republic FC, The Luma Center, and more!
Help us provide one more rural community in Africa with the fundamental right of clean water through the construction of a new deep-water well!  100% of proceeds will go directly to The Sonder Project’s clean water programs. If we hit our goal, we will dedicate a new deep-water well in one of our partner communities to the people of Petaluma!

TRANSFORMING ‘WATER IS HER LIFE’…
Women and girls in rural communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, where The Sonder Project works, bear the overwhelming burden of clean water scarcity – spending large portions of their day collecting water that is inconsistent, unclean, and causes frequent illness in the family. For example, women often describe waking up in the middle of the night, or sleeping in the savannah next to unclean water sources, in order to collect enough water for their families, which means less time for taking care of what matters most to them. The time and energy women must give to access water is all-encompassing, disempowering, and plays an oppressive role in their lives.
…TO ‘WATER IS HER RIGHT!’
The Sonder Project believes that water is a central issue to women’s rights and empowerment, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa. When The Sonder Project partners with rural communities in Burkina Faso and Malawi to construct a deep-water well, women can access clean water any time, any day, and they gain the freedom to spend more time with their family, earn a living, or go back to school. After a Sonder well is drilled, according to women we interviewed, they report saving hours each day, improved health for their families, improved community relations as they no longer compete over scarce resources, and greater economic opportunities. Access to water is transformed from an oppressive burden, to a fundamental right to be celebrated.
‘Water is Her Right!’ celebrates the transformative power of clean water access in improving women’s lives!
