Shades of Autumn
Gallery reception: Saturday, October 6, 1-3pm
Show runs: October 1 – 28
Upstairs Art Gallery is focusing on the SHADES of AUTUMN during the month of October with paintings from various artist members of the gallery. The front window is showcasing paintings of warm and earthy hues that relate to the transformation of the season with a nod toward Sonoma County’s bountiful agriculture.
Susan Greer is the featured artist upstairs in the gallery this month. In her artwork Susan finds pure joy spending time painting the landscape she’s known since birth. Expressive brushstrokes and elegant simplified forms come together to express a soulful, emotion-filled impression of Northern California. Her medium is oil paint.
Susan lives in Sonoma County and works as a full-time artist. Her paintings that depict the land she knows and loves, hang in private and corporate collections around the world. She has been a studio artist at the SOFA studios in Santa Rosa for over a decade.
Ms. Greer holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from SFSU and UCSC. She worked as a Product Designer with Broderbund Software, as a Curriculum Designer at Skywalker Ranch, and as an Editor at Addison Wesley Publishing Company before devoting her attention to full-time painting.
Phyllis Rapp is exhibiting multi media artwork of her winsome animals and fanciful figures in the Small Works Showcase. Her representational works of animals and figures are created in watercolor and acrylic paints, handmade paper collage, paper and ephemera.
Phyllis will be presenting a demonstration during the gallery reception that is on Saturday, October 6, 1-3pm.
