A World Premiere
By Cecilia Tichi – The Jack London Festival
Nearing his fortieth birthday, Jack London, the handsome author of The Call of the Wild vows to be “a spark…in a brilliant blaze,” fighting to win public opinion for the progressive new reforms of the 20th century. This World Premier play charts a course through London’s baggage of grudges, expenses that vastly outrun his income, and his once-robust body fatally weakened by injury and the thirst for John Barleycorn. The play climaxes with the fire that destroyed Wolf House and with London’s recognition that the house he’s built is not of rock and wood but an enduring legacy in support of social justice for the far future.
