calm before… the rising storm
“The most famous utterly obscure rock band in America”
In 1967, six high school seniors went into a tiny recording studio in Framingham Mass and recorded an album called ‘calm before…’ that became a vinyl collector’s classic in the decades to follow. The Rising Storm has become one of the ‘Unknown Legends of Rock n Roll’. Rock historians re-discovered calm before… and labeled the album an ‘icon of the 60’s garage band sound’.
This movie pieces together the story of the band’s unlikely rise to fame.
HILLBILLY SYMPHONY(Sinfonia Caipira)
Sinfonia Caipira chronicles the outrageous trip of Santa Jam – five amateur musicians from Sao Paulo to a small town in Brazil, to open the Ibitiblues Festival, playing traditional folk, country, rock and blues in the middle of the streets (and sometimes in the most unexpected places).
The film depicts the band’s joyous journey to unexpected success and to hope for the future in doing what they love – playing music for people – without a stage.
IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY
A film paying homage to the legendary San Francisco “Summer of Love” band led by the brilliant electric violinist/composer – Rock & Roll Hall of Famer: David Laflamme. Featuring archival concert footage of the band from 1969, on the Fillmore stage, all the way up to the present day band playing at the Mystic Theater in Petaluma. If you are old enough to remember, or young enough to discover, you will be mesmerized by the timeless sound of It’s A Beautiful Day.
Nothing else ever sounded like them.
