The Big Easy offers up Sonoma County local “California Delta Bluesman” Coyote Slim, who has previously opened here for Rockin Johnny Burgin and the Reverend Shawn Amos, and Big Jon Atkinson, one of the rising stars of the current blues scene, who is renowned for his vintage sound.

This is Big Jon’s debut in Sonoma County! Don’t miss it!

“Jon is one of the only guys doing it the right way. He knows the music. He knows the gist of it and understands the soul of the music.” — Kim Wilson

“Jon Atkinson is as well versed in the blues as anyone I have encountered to date. His love for and knowledge of the blues in its many forms and its colorful history runs as deep as the mighty Mississippi. A formidable talent on guitar, harmonica and vocals, Jon has spent his time in the proverbial woodshed and studied, not only the recordings, but, at the feet of some incredible players, soaking up everything he could. . . ” Bill Wilson (Reflections in Blue, 5-1-16)

Coyote Slim is a modern songster, who plays traditional blues and old-time songs often interjected with stories and verses drawn from his own experiences working in the outdoors in California’s mountains, woods, and urban jungles.

“[Coyote Slim] understands how to sing, and why it’s important. . . . you should listen to Coyote Slim. . . . he has R-E-S-P-E-C-T. . . . when [Coyote Slim] plays and sings, the sound is alive.”
