Healdsburg’s Upstairs Art Gallery is proudly featuring plein air painter, Cynthia Jackson-Hein, during the month of July and will be exhibiting her “A Slice of Americana” collection. Cynthia’s paintings speak of times gone by, with a personal connection to the things she most loves in life – people, animals and landscapes.

Cynthia states, “As I paint I experience a feeling of calming. The ordinary scenes of life, past and present, come alive, building a story, revealing their history, become a portrait of long past experiences. Today’s sun shines on an essence of past places and what came before. I want your eye to travel from the calf or rooster or child of today to the places and scenes of yesterday”.

Jackson-Hein’s expressive brushwork and harmonious palette invite the viewer to escape. Born in a small town in Manitoba, Canada, Cynthia came to California and studied at the Art Academy University in San Francisco. Accomplished in both landscape and portraiture, she is available for commission work, and especially enjoys working from live models and landscapes on location.

“Cynthia’s art makes me appreciate the beauty in the ordinary all around us that is so often not really seen or easily dismissed”.
