Join Collections Manager Solange Russek and members of the Petalumans of Yesteryear as they read and discuss a selection of letters from California pioneers John Bacon “JB” Lewis (1825-1909) and Elizabeth “Libby” Lewis (1826-1866). Follow along with JB and Libby’s pioneer experience as they share the joys and heartbreaks of family life in the 1800s, chronicle the harrowing journey from Connecticut to California via the Isthmus of Panama, depict life in Gold Rush-era San Francisco, and more. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
