David Nelson started his musical career playing folk and bluegrass music, most notably as a member of The Wildwood Boys with Jerry Garcia. He is perhaps best known as a co-founder and longtime member of the New Riders of the Purple Sage. In the mid 90s he formed the still-performing David Nelson Band. David has recently played with The Papermill Creek Rounders, a bluegrass group he co-founded with his long-time friend, Lowell “Banana” Levinger.
Banana plays piano, banjo, mandolin, guitar and bass; he had performed with the Proper Bostonians and the Trolls, and played mainly piano and guitar in legendary 60s band The Youngbloods. In recent years Banana has performed with the band Zero, Barry “The Fish” Melton Band, and Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul.
