Lenni Revel weaves her vocally mesmerizing spell over audiences in Sonoma County, with her powerfully soulful and totally original music. Her debut album “Unbroken” is due for full release in October of 2023. In the meantime, 4 powerful tracks from the LP were released last summer as singles and her music videos garnered over a million cumulative views on YouTube in less than 6 months. The local Santa Rosa-based artist has seemingly come out of nowhere to be the brightest current light in the northern California music scene, but her backstory is hardly empty.

The new artist is rising from the quiet of an 8-year hiatus from recording as a pop music singer in her early twenties. Her fresh incarnation weaves a thematic fusion of rock, soul and blues roots together and evolving it with a contemporary treatment (imagine Lana Del Rey meets Hozier with a cinematic, outlaw vibe.) “This time is different,” says the artist. These songs all carry a life-serving message while at the same time being highly crafted to get you out of your seat and feeling alive again.

Lenni’s own life-story lives in the music she sings. All of the album’s songs are written either by her, her husband, or co-written by both. And Lenni’s unique sonic architecture always hits its mark with real instruments played by seasoned musicians and of course, no longer the auto-tuned pop voice of her early career. The result is that rare album that simply has no filler tracks; every song carries its own weight.
Lenni’s unmanipulated voice is the epic part of the formula. Her singing is hauntingly ethereal, as if bringing in divinations from another dimension, yet also at times raw, soulful, driving and when needed… velvet smooth. If an oracle could be an alluring singer, she would be Lenni Revel.

Lenni’s vocal qualities are reminiscent of some of the best self-revealing female singers of all time. She has been compared to Lana Del Ray, Fiona Apple, Amy Winehouse, and most often Stevie Nicks. But she is no imitator. Her authentically mystical and swampy vibe invokes more than just the experience of a great song performed by an amazing singer—she somehow creates another world we all secretly want to live in that feels better than this one.

What we have in this exciting new artist is the complete package. Her polished debut album “Unbroken” was one of the last recorded albums at the historical Prairie Sun Studio in Cotati. The full complement of Lenni’s successful music videos are produced by her filmmaker husband, and the synergy of their artistic collaboration is as visceral in visual form as it is in their music.

Lenni may be headed off to the big leagues sooner rather than later to be a legacy industry artist, but right now we can catch this hometown phenomenon up close and personal with her new band at our very own Barrel Proof Lounge in Santa Rosa, where she will be performing a limited series of weekend shows exclusively for her Sonoma County community fans in lieu of her 2024 North American tour.

Years of self promoted touring, grinding it out on sidewalks, in bars, clubs, theaters, on festival stages and just about anywhere else someone can make a buck playing original music is starting to pay off. His work ethic and drive is making this North Bay native a fast rising star beyond local circles and his ever growing fan base gives him no reason to slow down. Inspiration and his continued pursuit to share messages of love and longing mixed with an edge that stems from part vintage – part modern approach to writing and production there’s no telling, but the best is yet to come for this young writer.
