Enjoy the west side of Sonoma Mountain at Lafferty Ranch

Lafferty Ranch hike
Sun, March 30, 2025, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join LandPaths docents Larry Modell and Nettie Bock for a springtime exploration of Petaluma’s Lafferty Ranch.  What wildflowers will be blooming? Will water be raging in Adobe Creek?  Will the weather cooperate allowing us to see all the awesome views that Lafferty has to offer?  Let’s give appreciation to the Coast Miwok past, present, and future and their ongoing stewardship of the land in Sonoma County and appreciate some of the historical aspects of the property.
This 270-acre property is the only publicly-owned land on the west side of Sonoma Mountain. Under contract with the City of Petaluma, Landpaths has been leading hikes on the land to introduce groups to its history and natural features since the summer of 2022. The hiking terrain ranges from broad, gentle meadows to steep challenging hillsides with a narrow path.
This day we will hike approximately 2.5 miles, with over 300 feet elevation gain.  There are some steep, challenging and potentially slippery paths. We will take a few breaks along the way to catch our breath and look around then stop for a longer break at the top under a beautiful oak tree and hope to see the ocean from afar.
