Fire & Landscapes Walk (CA State Parks Week)

Fri, June 14, 2024, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join Sonoma Ecology staff on this approximately 2-mile fire recovery hike. Starting at the main parking lot, we’ll head up the continual incline of Lower Bald Mt Trail, twice burned in the last six years. We will be assessing the burned vegetation of chaparral and oak woodland, learning how to interpret fire-affected landscapes and discussing why it happened and how to prepare for it happening again. We return down a rough, paved, continually descending road.

Tickets are $10-$15 sliding scale for general audiences and free for children under 12. Meet at the White Barn parking lot, ½ past the entrance kiosk. Wear sturdy footwear and sun protection, bring at least a quart of water, and if desired, a snack. Trekking poles recommended, if you use them. Parking fees apply.
