
California State Parks participates in a nationwide effort to welcome all people to explore the outdoors with trail guides and other nature enthusiasts. Celebrate New Year’s Day with the annual First Day Hike of 2024, at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve! Bring your friends and family for an inspiring and rejuvenating walk below towering coast redwoods. Explore special features, such as the tallest, the smallest, the oldest, and the oddest Coast Redwood trees, at Armstrong Redwoods SNR!
Experienced guides will meet participants near the Armstrong Redwoods Visitor Center. Hikes will start each hour from 10AM to 1PM (10AM, 11AM, Noon, and 1PM). Each hike will last approximately two hours. The Pioneer Trail is a mile and a half long round trip, is ADA accessible, and is mostly flat and level. Steady rain may cancel. For more information please contact Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods. All ages are welcome. Children need to be accompanied by an adult. Dress in weather-appropriate clothing and footwear. Bring plenty of water and snacks.
