Deborah Crooks “Flight Lessons” upstairs in THE LOFT at Soft Medicine Sanctuary
Deborah has recorded four full-length CDs (including 2019’s The Department of the West which The Rocking Magpie described as “…what Americana music is all about for me; imaginative, cinematic, informative and last but not least … entertaining.” In addition to her solo work, she collaborates in the band Bay Station and its Love the Bay Music & Sailing Series.
Deborah has drawn upon her experiences studying natural history and raptor conservation to develop “Flight Lessons,” a folk opera based on a true story about Peregrine Falcons and humans living at the intersection of wild and urban habitats in Oakland, CA.
Kyle Alden
Singer/songwriter and folk musician Kyle Alden has appeared on stages throughout California, the Pacific Northwest, New York and Ireland. Kyle draws material from the American, Irish and British folk traditions, creating original folk-music settings of poetry as well as writing original songs. He is recognized for his award-winning songs based on the poems of Irish poet W.B. Yeats. Kyle has played with acoustic/roots group The Mild Colonial Boys for over twenty years, and currently plays guitars, mandolin, fiddle and sings with founding member, singer/guitarist Rory McNamara in their duo performances in California and beyond. He is also a member of trad Irish band The Gas Men, where he sings and plays guitar and fiddle.
