“Flourish” is a new visual arts exhibit featuring the mixed media artworks of local artist, Kay Young. The show will showcase Young’s glass transfer wall pieces as well as her three dimensional mixed media glass work. Using gold leaf, acrylic paint, handmade Japanese papers, and her own original painted papers she builds up complex, textural layers adhered to blank glass vessels.
“Flourish” opens on Friday May 27th and ends on Sunday, July 31.
There is a FREE artist reception scheduled for Saturday, May 28th from Noon-3:00 pm. The public is welcome and there is plenty of parking available.
Young holds a BFA in Textile Arts from the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, now called The California College of the Arts. Her textile background of layering fibers on handmade paper, felt, and woven artworks inspired her current new art direction working with textures on glass.
Hopscotch Gifts & Gallery is located in Fulton Crossing.
