Language of the Land: Adapting to Rising Waters by Sonoma Land Trust

Thu, July 15, 2021, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Sonoma Land Trust has set a goal to increase resilience to the impacts of flooding from sea level rise in the San Pablo Baylands by protecting and restoring 10,000 acres to tidal marsh wetlands and other natural habitats over the next decade. Join this talk by coastal ecologist and botanist Peter Baye to learn about the design and use of nature-based solutions in tidal wetland restoration and management. Specifically, Peter will discuss plans to use natural materials and ecological processes to respond to rapidly changing conditions at the 970-acre Sears Point Tidal Wetland Restoration Project. For better or worse, dynamic and unexpected outcomes will be a hallmark of climate change, and nature-based solutions are sure to be a primary tool for responding here in the Bay and around the globe.
