Seniors are defined as

“A class of people who hold the wisdom of the world.”

And we bring this to our Dance Parties!

All ages 21+ welcome!

Q1: Is this a “geezer” event?
A1: NO! NO! NOOOOO! (Is that clear enough?) The dance is open to all adults, 21 and older. This is an “LGBTQI & Friends” event, held at the Senior Center. Think kd lang, not Lawrence Welk.
Q2: Do I have to be a “senior” to get in?
A2: No! So long as you are at least 21, you are welcome. Most of our attendees are in their 40s or 50s; but the range has been 21 to mid-90s. The Senior Center is also the area resource center for adults of all ages identifying as LGBTQI. These dances are open to everyone 21 and older.
Q3: Do I have to be L, G, B, T, Q, or I to get in?
A3: No! This is an “LGBTQI & Friends” event, so be friendly and you can come. Our dances are all-inclusive and are meant to be enjoyed by the entire community, regardless of age, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
Q4: What is it?
A4: This is our fourth annual Mardi Gras Dance held at the Sebastopol Senior Center. Every year it gets better, more decorations, more fun and a larger crowd.
Q5: What kind of music is it?
A5: All the good stuff, mostly Baby Boomer music … AND THERE’S THE BEST OF NEW STUFF AS WELL… And yes, our fabulous DJs take requests!
Q6: What type of dancing is it?
A6: Free form! You don’t need to know how to do any particular type of dancing, and you don’t need a partner. If you like line dancing or structured partner dancing, be sure to check out the dances by Out West Dance and Redwood Rainbows, both of which happen at Wischemann Hall in Sebastopol. AND IF YOU DON’T DANCE, THAT’S FINE TOO; lots of people come just to hang out.
Q7: How much is it?
A7: $15 in advance, $20 at the door (if available).
Q8: Is there food?
A8: fresh popped popcorn, a big cake and light snacks
Q9: Is/are there wine and beer?
A9: Yes! For a modest charge, $6. Such a deal.
Q10: Can I help?
A10: Yes! We love donations (cash, food, wine, decorations, etc.). And we are always looking for volunteers (set up, prepare food, clean up, etc.). To Volunteer, email scotty@sebastopolseniorcenter.org
