Two drifters, George and Lennie arrive at a ranch to work for enough money to get their own place. Lennie is a man-child and George an uneducated but intelligent man who acts as Lennie’s protector. It becomes clear that Lennie, who loves soft and cuddly things, is both gentle and dangerous. He accidentally kills the ranch boss’s promiscuous wife and flees, with George in pursuit. George faces a moral dilemma: how to deal with Lennie before the ranchers find him and mete out their own justice.
