Opening Reception for Grass Roots: Cannabis from Prohibition to Prescription

Sat, June 15, 2019, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Cannabis use still generates strong, often divided opinions, but its story is undeniably significant. From its common use in American medicines over a century ago, to its prohibition, to the passionate advocacy for its legalization during the AIDS crisis, explore the long history of cannabis in Grass Roots: Cannabis from Prohibition to Prescription. With its legacies of agriculture and back-to-the land, as well as its position between the Emerald Triangle and San Francisco, Sonoma County has played significant role in the story of cannabis. Join us for the opening of our newest exhibit and find out how deep those roots grow and get informed about this controversial topic!
