Petaluma Active 20-30 #30 is hosting their 7th Annual Ribs for Kids & Chili Cookoff fundraiser, taking place on Saturday, May 21st, 2022 from 12pm-4pm at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds & Event Center in Petaluma, California. Ribs for Kids is Petaluma Active 20-30’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Taking place annually since 2015, Ribs for Kids gives home cooks a chance to show-off their skill and passion for good BBQ, chili and side dishes. This event helps to raise funds to support underserved children in the community. 100% of the proceeds go directly to support children in the local Petaluma area. Proceeds from Ribs for Kids goes towards Petaluma Active 20-30 #30’s biggest charitable event each year, the Children’s Shopping Spree. In August, before the school year starts, the club sponsors underserved children to go back-to-school shopping at Kohl’s in Petaluma. Members and volunteers take the children to shop, and often, this is the first time many have had an opportunity to own a brand new pair of shoes or clothes that are not hand-me-downs. They are also given a backpack full of school supplies, a haircut, and a hot breakfast.
