March 8 at Sebastopol Community Cultural Center

Bluegrass greats Laurie Lewis and Kathy Kallick will join forces to celebrate both International Women’s Day and 50 years of California bluegrass at the 21st annual Sonoma County Bluegrass and Folk Festival, taking place from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center, 390 Morris St.

Renowned as singers and songwriters, longtime friends and collaborators Lewis and Kallick are also lauded for their respective talents on fiddle and guitar. Each has won a Grammy and International Bluegrass Music Association awards, and both have received California Bluegrass Association Lifetime Member awards. The festival roster also includes Toronto-based Americana-bluegrass trio Lonesome Ace String Band, along with several Bay Area artists: contemporary band Broken Compass Bluegrass, folk-bluegrass ensemble Late for the Train, rising teen talents Salty Sally and family band Mission Blue, with special appearances by students of Manning Music, a Berkeley-based community of teachers and musicians who love bluegrass, oldtime, fiddle and acoustic music. Of course, there will be onsite music workshops and plenty of space for attendees to jam with fellow pickers.
