This concert, which will take place Saturday April 29 at 7:30pm in Weill Hall, will be a joint concert with three El-Sistema-inspired organizations located in the North Bay: the Santa Rosa Symphony’s Simply Strings program, Vivo Youth Orchestras (based in Sonoma) and ELM (based in Marin County). These three groups will all perform short sets on the first half of the program.
The second half of the program will see the SSU Symphony Orchestra take the stage with a set featuring music from Buenos Aires: Astor Piazzolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires (featuring SSU Faculty member Gail Hernandez Rosa as violin soloist) and Alberto Ginastera’s Four Dances from Estancia. The concert will conclude with two songs featuring all of the performers from the evening side-by-side on stage: Carlos Gardel’s Tango una Cabeza and Piazzolla’s beloved Libertango.
