“Unlikely is an indie-pop/rock band from the Central Valley. Comprised of two electric guitars, bass, drums, synth, and layers of vocal harmony, songs are defined by their energetic rhythms, catchy leads, and thick texture. Their sound is influenced by dance rock-pop artists such as Two Door Cinema Club, The Last Dinosaurs, and Polkadot Stingray as well as emo/alternative bands such as Taking Band Sunday, Cursive, and Microwave. Unlikely has toured up and down the west coast from San Diego, California to Seattle, Washington and performed alongside bands such as Tiny Moving Parts, Ridgeway, Belmont, Capstan, Glacier Veins, and more.”

With musical eclectic influences ranging from classic jazz, 80s swagger, 90s grunge to modern alternative, indie, and psychedelic music, TMFT can broadly be described as “If The Smashing Pumpkins and Crumb got into a dive bar fight,” a fight between the clean pretty pinks (with just enough self-aware humor) and grungy gothic darks (of emotion and general angst) reflected in their aesthetic and music itself.
With members Jon Bland, Ella Hoffman, and Ren Dias being classically trained and students of music for their entire lives, they knew the next step would obviously be to start a rock band.
TMFT’s debut single, “Pink Flamingos” is scheduled to release this June 23rd. With motifs embodying the ever-prevalent feeling of “right place wrong time,” whether it be romance or just life in general, “Pink Flamingos” music expresses this with floaty light verses contrasting gritty grating distortionful choruses. Stay tuned… and maybe a little scared to see what TMFT has in the store next.
