Welcome (or welcome back) to Happening in Sonoma County!
To our longtime followers: Yes, we’re back and we’re so happy to have you with us. Please be patient with us as we rebuild and reconnect.
The back-story: After 10+ years under the stewardship of publisher Deborah Wiig, Happening enjoyed a large and loyal following, but struggled under the financial and staffing demands required to maintain the quality we were known for. When Sonoma County Go Local’s new executive director offered to take over the publication, it seemed like a fortunate solution. Regrettably, after a rocky few months, Go Local ceased publication of Happening and that venerable 15-year-old community organization closed for good. Ownership of Happening was returned to Deborah Wiig.
So, here we are, at the beginning of a busy summer of Sonoma County fun, and we’re scrambling to pick up the pieces and hit the ground running, to keep it going, at least for awhile.
More than ever, we need the support of our followers, the venues and organizations that share their events on our calendar, our advertisers, and any potential partners who would like to join us in becoming sustainable.
